As already known, SAP will supposingly discontinue the support for the “classic” ‘WM’ module by 2027. Therefore the independent application ‚EWM‘ is pushed and promoted over the past few years.
In the following we would like to give an overview and a comparison of the innovations and the differences of the module ‘WM’ and the application ‘EWM’.
The following functionalities are available in ‘WM’ as well as in ‘EWM’ and have been taken over into ‘EWM’ with different further developments:
*For very big yards (i.e. container handling at sea ports) SAP developed by now the independent application ‘Yard Logistics’.
But there are also newly implemented functionalities in ‘EWM’. At these we would like to look at more detailed.
With ‚WM‘ the current functionalities can be used until the discontinuation of the support. Whereas with ‘EWM’ and the described functionalities, if extended or newly integrated, an increase of the efficiency, the service level and the process quality can be achieved, that results in a decrease of costs.
